Cooling Towers Used in Electric Power Generation Field

Cooling tower manufacturers design towers of different shapes and sizes. However, not all types are suitable for application to every kind of heat load configuration.

Take a look at some towers used in electric power generation field

  • Atmospheric towers: This kind of tower use no mechanical device such as fan to create air flow through the tower. It is also known as Hyberbolic Natural Draft Tower. The kind of tower is expensive as compared to other normal types. They are commonly used in the field of electric power generation.

  • Mechanical Draft Towers: This type of tower use single or multiple fans to provide air flow through the tower. In this case, thermal performance tends towards greater stability and is affected by fewer psychometric variables. The mechanical draft cooling tower can be categorized as forced draft or induced draft.

  • Hybrid Draft Towers: They look somewhat like natural draft towers with relatively short stacks. They are designed with mechanical draft fans to augment air flow. They are also known as fan-assisted natural draft towers.
