Previous post has described about cooling towers in terms of air flow, construction and size. Now, this post will differentiate cooling towers as per shape. Following are the towers characterized according to shape.
- Rectilinear Cooling Tower: This type of equipment is constructed in cellular fashion. It is designed with number of cells to undertake quality thermal performance.
- Round Mechanical Draft Cooling Tower: As the name suggest, the tower is round in plan configuration. There are cluster of fans around the center point of the tower. This kind of cooling equipment are designed to handle extreme heat loads with minimum site area.
More characterization of cooling towers are yet to come up. Till then, stay tuned.
