Known to all, cooling tower is used to cool process water. Today, I'm gonna write about the ambient wet bulb temperature and its affect on cooling tower performance.
Ambient wet bulb temperature is generally measured with the help of psychrometer. The device places a thin film of water on the bulb of a thermometer. After waiting for a minute, one can see a reduced temperature reading in the thermometer. The low point when no additional twirling reduces the temperature is called wet bulb temperature.
Wet bulb temperature indicates relative humidity and ambient air temperature. Expert says that wet bulb temperature measures the level of water vapor the atmosphere can hold in specific weather condition. The lower is the wet bulb temperature, the more drier is the air, i.e it can hold more water vapor.
Therefore, when selecting a cooling tower, it is necessary to check the overall design.
