What is Total Air Rate, Water Rate in Cooling Tower Technology

Industrial Cooling tower technology includes lots of mechanical terms which common people do not nomenclature starting from T understand. In an effort to unfold those engineering terms, let me bring to you some important.

  • Total Air Rate: It is the total mass flow of dry air per hour through the tower. It is symbolized as G and the unit for measurement is lb per hr.
  • Total Water Rate: It is the total mass flow of water per hour through the tower. It is symbolized as L and the unit for measurement is lb per hr.
  • Tower Pumping Head: It is the sum total of static lift from the elevation of the basin curb to the center line elevation of the distribution system inlet and the total pressure necessary at the point to effect proper distribution of the water to its point of contact with the air.
  • Transverse- It is the pertaining to occurrence in the direction of tower width.
