Cooling Tower Fan Design

Designing a fan and blade for cooling tower is a complex thing to do. One basic point for designing blade is producing uniform an air flow as possible over the entire plane of the fan. As one moves from the tip of the blade to the hub, the tangential velocity decreases.

In order to produce uniform airflow, the width of blade must be increased. The reserved direction effect is reduced in those fan which is designed with a hub seal disc. In the absence of a bell inlet, the fan performance is reduced.

In general, axial flow fans are designed with four to eight blades. Both the fan and air volume contribute to the increase in fan speed. For a specified air volume flow rate, the rotational speed can be reduced with increasing numbers of blades.

Some engineers said that axial flow fans reduce the power consumption and noise of air-cooled condensers. For detailed information about cooling tower fan design contact cooling tower engineers.
