Lifelong Cooling Tower With ZERO Maintenance

Searching a Best Cooling Tower for your industry! If so, then your search ends here! At CASE manufacturing house, you will get your kind of 'cooling solution', meaning robust and long-lasting one for life-long performance without any disturbance or maintenance.

FRP Body of the CASE Cooling Tower is designed to withstand air velocities more than 100km/hr. It is constructed to give aesthetic appeal by UV stabilized pigment.

Thickness of the FRP panel are between 4mm to 5mm. The aerodynamic design of the FRP body ensures even suction of air throughout the Cooling Tower for maximum efficiency. Sturdy design ensures lifelong FRP body with zero maintenance. Appropriate gasket inserted between panels, fastened by SS fasteners, ensures no air suction from anywhere in the Cooling Tower apart from air suction vent. Air suction vents are deliberately large in height to decrease the differential pressure across the fan and to increase the efficiency of cooling towers.

Removing Cooling Tower Fill Deposits

When it comes to maintaining an industrial cooling tower, the removal of scale deposits plays a vital role. Many of us might have a question in our mind, like, 'Why is it necessary to remove the cooling tower fill deposits?'

And, here is the right answer!

Fill deposits block the air passages and water stream. This results in the drop of effective surface area and thus, reduces the evaporation and the overall efficiency of the cooling tower. The principle of cooling tower is to maximize evaporation by which the remaining water is cooled down to the desired temperature. Scale deposits on the fills also results in pressure drop across the fill media resulting in higher power consumption for same air flows. Deposition on fill media reduces the life of the fill in case of HONEY COMB PVC, WOODEN Splash Bars etc.

Depending on the nature of deposition, the cooling tower technologists may suggest a corrective way to avoid such situation. In case, the deposition is a result of impurities such as mud, iron scale, dust etc., these can be taken care by setting up a simple water filtration system before the cooling tower inlet. For depositions which are caused because of scale formation (hardness of water), a state-of-the-art technology called SCALE BAN can be used to avoid and prevent such formations.

How to Improve Energy Efficiency of Cooling Tower

Cooling tower remains in operational mode throughout the year, especially in regions temperature remains between 30 degree Celsius - 50 degree Celsius. Sometime, despite of taking good care the tower may not give satisfactory performance. In such case, user may consider the following points:

  • Optimize cooling tower fan blade angle as per season.
  • Correct the uneven blade tip and poor fan balance
  • Replace some cooling tower parts like splash bars with PVC cellular film fill, spray type nozzles with new square type nozzle.
  • Opt for nozzle that do not clog
  • Cover water basin to minimize biological growth
  • Maintain static water distribution system
  • Keep the cooling water temperature to minimum level
  • Monitor approach, effectiveness and cooling capacity
  • Monitor liquid to gas ratio and water flow rates
  • Keep an eye on cooling water pumps regularly
  • Consider energy efficient FRP towers and blades for fan energy saving
  • Opt for multi-cell cooling towers i.e number of fans and motors per cell
  • Consider nozzles and sprays made of stainless steel to avoid corrosion problem.

Water Cooling Tower- Calculation and Evaluation

Known to all, cooling tower is a heat rejection device, widely used for chemical plants, business towers and various other sectors of industries. Heat inside the tower is withdrawn from water by contact between water and air. The transfer of heat takes place by the process of evaporation and heat exchange between water and air.

Take a look at the diagrammatic representation of water cooling system, uploaded below:
Water Cooling Tower System
Water Cooling Tower System
Now, let me tell you that cooling towers are graded in terms of approach and range. The term 'Approach' is used to differentiate temperature between the cooled-water temperature and the entering-air wet bulb - twb -temperature. And, the 'Range' is the temperature between the water inlet and exit states.

Going further, I'd like to write a few lines about cooling tower efficiency, how to calculate and so on.

The efficiency of cooling tower can be expressed as  μ = (ti - to) 100 / (ti - twb)    (1)
Here,

μ = cooling tower efficiency - common range between 70- 75%

μ = cooling tower efficiency - common range between 70 - 75%
ti = inlet temperature of water to the tower (oC, oF)
to = outlet temperature of water from the tower (oC, oF)
twb = wet bulb temperature of air (oC, oF)

That's it for today! I'm off for the day......Happy Weekend..:)

Factors Affecting Cooling Tower Efficiency

Cooling Tower Maintenance Program- Man at Work
Today, I'm going to mention a brief about those factors which affects the overall performance of a cooling tower. Having installed the tower on site, it is necessary to keep a maintenance program for long-term efficiency of the equipment.

To keep a regular track on the cooling tower performance, you may have to know a bit about the following factors:

  • Heat Dissipation
  • Cooling Capacity
  • Range- a function of heat load and the flow circulated through the system
  • Cold Water Temperature - Bulb Temperature = Approach
  • Heat Load

Each factor is related top other. Therefore, none of them should be overlooked during the process of maintenance program. To get an elaborate note for cooling tower technology and calculation, keep surfing
