SPX Cracks Cooling Tower Contracts for Power Plants

SPX Corp has won $40 million worth of contracts for dry-cooling towers at power plants in Indonesia, Jordan and Mexico.

“As emerging and developed countries around the world continue to expand their energy infrastructure to meet growing demand for electricity, we continue to see demand for our highly efficient dry cooling technologies for power plants,” says Gene Lowe, SPX segment president. The systems are particularly popular in dry climates where water is restricted or in low supply, he says

The Charlotte-based company will provide air-cooled condensers to two 140-megawatt units at a coal-fired plant in Babelan, Indonesia, to a 140-megawat combined-cycle natural gas plant in Al Zarqa, Jordan, and to a 205-megawatt gas plant in San Luis de la Paz, Mexico.
