How to Control Corrosion in Cooling Tower

Cooling tower operators often complain about corrosion problem. It becomes a headache when the
tower stops to operate. It is seen that the metals used in a cooling tower are often susceptible to corrosion in varying degrees. Even the most sophisticated metals fail to withstand pressure in the realm of corrosion for longer periods of time.

Engineers says that corrosion may be due to high oxygen content, carbon dioxide, low pH or the availability of dissimilar metals. Since most water system corrosion occurs as a result of electrolytic action, an increase in the dissolved solids increases the conductivity and the corrosion potential. This is particularly true of the chloride and sulfate ions. Therefore, blowdown is a very useful too to fight against corrosion.

CASE provides cooling towers which are anti-corrosive. For details, contact cooling tower manufacturers associated with the company.
