CASING in Cooling Towers

CASING is an important part just like any other part of cooling tower. It works to accumulate water
within the tower, provide an air plenum for the fan and transmit wind loads to the tower framework.

However, casing must be equipped with some qualities like diaphragm strength; it should be watertight and corrosion resistant. Also, it must have fire retardant qualities. It must also resist unpredictable weather and should always present a pleasing appearance.

Now-a-days, manufacturers of cooling towers supply steel framed or wood framed casing for field-erected towers. They are made up of fire-retardant, fibre reinforced polyster corrugated panels, overlapped and sealed to prevent leakage.

Factory-assembled steel towers are made up of galvanized steel panels and concrete towers are cased with precase concrete panels.
