As discussed earlier, there are two types of fill media- Splash Film & Film Fill. A recent survey on HVAC industry confirmed that Film Fill is widely used for manufacturing of cooling towers. So, I'd like to share a few beneficial points of using the kind of film.
- In Film Fill, water forms a thin film on either side of fill sheets. Thus area of heat exchange is the surface area of the fill sheets, which is in contact with air.
- Due to fewer requirements of air and pumping head, Film Fill allow tremendous saving in power with the invention of film fill.
- Film Fills with higher flute sizes handle high turbid waters.
Also, taking with experts, confirmed that in case of sea water usage, low clog film fills are considered best for saving power and receiving optimum level of performances.
